) Though I much prefer ripping discs to my central media server. This humble machine has been playing back UHD discs for years. My HTPC uses an AMD FX-8350 and a GTX 1650. Unfortunately, this one has a manufacture date of and unfortunately came with the buggy firmware v1.0.5 pre-installed, so its not UHD Friendly or LibreDrive. Many sellers will flash the stock firmware with UHD-capable firmware for drives sold as “UHD ready”. Since Im using this as an external drive, I used the Unitek Y-1099New USB 3.0 to SATA III Optical Drive adapter (right here on Amazon), as suggested by the MakeMKV forums. Of course, you may need to use “alternate” decryption options like AnyDVD or DVDFab, and naturally you also need a UHD capable disc drive with compatible firmware. Just use MPC-HC or JRiver Media Center, etc. Other software players that don’t make use of Intel SGX can play UHD discs just fine, so AMD CPU owners need not worry. PowerDVD just happens to make use of Intel SGX for their decryption implementation / HDCP handshake enforcement. Intel SGX is not a requirement for playback in the UHD Blu-ray spec. This is primarily a limitation specifically for software like Cyberlink’s PowerDVD because Cyberlink is one of the very few officially authorized software vendors for encrypted UHD disc playback. I don't recall having to do this with my last drive which was a wh 14NS30 or something from 2014, for the version of meek MKV that I was using for a very long time version 1.12.x.Slight clarification. But if I remove the second Blu-ray disc close the app, reopen the app, insert the disk, everything works fine. I'll get errors on that second Blu-ray disc. Meaning if I rip a Blu-ray disc, and then when it's done I keep the software running and insert a second Blu-ray disc. seems like the stability of this software version is not very good anymore? Unless it's a combination of the software in my drive? I know its not on the list of officially supported UHD-friendly or LibreDrive-friendly drives. I'm using make MKV version 1.15.x that I downloaded about a month ago. It rips Blu-ray and 4K just fine, generally speaking. I recently upgraded to a WH16NS40 drive and flashed WH16NS60 1.02MK firmware. I guess I'll post here since I don't really post on the makeMKV site.
